Rules and Regulations

Overview

The Flo Thomasian Speck Collaborative Study Space (CSS) is part of the AGBU Papazian Library facilities. It is located in Zone 3: Collaborative Zone, and serves as an open, freely-operating area for group and individual studies. The area may not be used for clubs, recreation, classes, or instructor office hours. Only current AUA students may use the space.

Hours and availability

CSS is open Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters from 9:00AM to 9:00PM.

Facilities

CSS offers three multi-seat (4 to 8-person) workstations equipped with large LCD monitors that allow students to connect their laptops to share content.

As of August 2025, reservations are no longer required for using CSS and its facilities.

Student conduct

Students are responsible for the care and proper use of CSS facilities, and are expected to behave with respect and consideration toward each other and the shared space. Rules regarding food, drink and cellphone usage reflect those of the AGBU Papazian Library.

It is prohibited to leave your belongings to “reserve” spaces in CSS for extended periods of time. It is the student’s responsibility to be mindful of others who wish to use the equipment or space. Use of CSS equipment to play games, watch movies, view pictures, listen to music or otherwise engage in non-academic activities is prohibited. Removing furniture or other equipment from CSS is also prohibited.

CSS is equipped with four security cameras to capture any misuse of equipment or inappropriate behavior. Students assume liability for damage to furniture and technology. AGBU Papazian Library staff reserve the right to ask students to leave CSS if they behave inappropriately or misuse CSS equipment.
